ASEAN Scholarships for Malaysia: Secondary School Level ScholarshipsStudents from Malaysia who wish to enter Singapore schools at the Secondary 1 level or Secondary school 3 level under the ASEAN Scholarships are welcome to apply for the Secondary 1 awards. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships may be considered for the Singapore Government’s Merit Awards.

The important dates given below are tentative and are subject to changes.

Candidates short-listed for the selection test/interview will be notified a week before the selection test / interview dates.

Scholars selected to attend the bridging course will be required to arrive in Singapore in October 2010.

Field of Study:
Secondary 1 to Pre-University 2 or Secondary 3 to Pre-University

Criteria & Eligibility:
Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the Secondary 1 to Pre University scholarship:

  • Nationals of Malaysia
  • Born between 1996–1998
  • Currently in Standard 6 or Form 1
  • Have done consistently well in their school examinations
  • Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in extra-curricular activities would be an advantage

Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the Secondary 3 to Pre University scholarship:

  • Nationals of Malaysia
  • Born between 1994–1996
  • Currently in Form 2 or Form 3
  • Have done consistently well in their school examinations
  • Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in extra-curricular activities would be an advantage

Scholarship Coverage:

  • Allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel accommodation
  • Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only)
  • Economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or S$50 transport allowance (for West Malaysians) to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of scholarship term
  • Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
  • Waiver of GCE O-Level and A-Level (or equivalent) examination fees (once only, if applicable)
  • Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover
  • Bridging course (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)

Bonding:
No bonding

  • Apply via online
  • Submit certified copies of the following items directly to the Singapore Ministry of Education:
    • Birth Certificate;
    • Identity Card / Passport (if any); and
    • Final Year Examination Result Slips for the last two years to:

  • Original documents that are not in English must be translated; the translations must be accompanied by a photocopy of the original documents. Please do not send any original documents.
  • All applications should reach the Singapore Ministry of Education before the closing date.
